Version 7.18.2
A nation bleeding from relentless jihadist attacks has every right to put the harshest penalty back on the table for terrorists, spies and traitors who threaten its stability. Sovereignty means writing laws that reflect the country's own values and security needs, not the moral lectures of a former colonial power still meddling in the Sahel. Public order and the safety of ordinary families must always come first.
Executing people has never stopped terrorism, and handing a government that already jails journalists the power to kill only invites further abuse of authority. A punishment this final, rubber-stamped by a legislature nobody voted for, leaves no way back when the wrong person is condemned and justice fails. Security built on fear of the executioner is an insult to principles of liberty and democracy.
