- U.S. Magistrate Judge Alex Tse ordered former OpenAI engineer Abdulrahman Alfozan held without bail Monday, citing a significant risk of flight, and called an offer by the Saudi Consulate in Los Angeles to pay his full bail "problematic."
- OpenAI found a thumb-sized recording device last month in a USB port behind a television in a San Francisco executive conference room, concealed in toilet paper with its contents encrypted.
- Prosecutors wrote in a detention filing that the 35-year-old appeared to have "considerable support from a foreign government that has...no extradition treaty with the United States...limitless resources; and...the ability to provide
extraordinary travel assistance."
