Washington walked itself into this quagmire, and the only way out runs through Tehran's terms. Ending the war on every front, unfreezing the seized funds, lifting the naval blockade and pulling US forces from the region are simple recognitions of Iranian rights. A $43.6 billion bill and drained munitions stockpiles show who is actually cornered here.
This reverses the usual logic of diplomacy. Iran is the one that wants a deal, quickly and badly, and that says everything about who is negotiating from weakness. The United States decides whether engagement happens at all, and on what terms. Openness to talks is a choice, not an obligation handed down by a list of demands.
Too much is breaking at once. Oil disruptions, soaring fuel prices, supply shortages, attacks on Saudi infrastructure and continuing losses from global energy markets are compounding the costs of the Iran war. The only way forward is to reach a deal with Iran and bring an end to what has become a disastrous failure for the Trump administration.
