Was the Gaza flotilla a staged provocation against Israel or a legitimate aid mission met with piracy?

The Spin

Pro-Israel narrative

The Gaza flotilla was never about aid — it was a staged provocation designed to serve Hamas and undermine peace efforts. Gaza has received over 1.58 million tons of humanitarian aid since October 2025, so the blockade isn't starving anyone. If these activists genuinely cared about Palestinians, they'd be demanding Hamas disarm instead of staging publicity stunts against a lawful naval blockade.

Anti-Israel narrative

Boarding civilian vessels carrying aid workers from 40 countries in international waters is piracy. Israeli commandos from Shayetet 13 seized ships, cut communications and detained roughly 100 people without legal authority on the high seas. The same country that condemns Iran for restricting international waterways is now doing exactly that in the Mediterranean.
