Version 7.18.3
Shuttering the last paper willing to report corruption and war honestly leaves an entire country with nothing but state propaganda and official narratives. Evictions, frozen donations and criminal cases against editors are just quieter versions of the bullets that silenced independent reporters before. A government that fears an independent newsroom this much is admitting exactly how much it has to hide from the public.
Before the West launches yet another hypocritical attack on Russia's media policies, it should examine how "independent" its own media are, which embed with armies, recycle war narratives and apply double standards in reporting. A publication stripped of its license and tangled in criminal cases is simply meeting the same legal requirements every outlet must follow. Selective outrage over such cases is not real journalism.
