Historic flooding didn't stop Florida from smartly shifting polling sites and keeping ballots moving, proving same-day voting still reigns king. The bigger menace is sloppy preparation in blue states, proving that scanners rejecting ballots from the moment doors opened in dry weather means machine testing got skipped. Pinning broken elections on the forecast just excuses administrators who fell short.
Rain and high winds are real barriers, hitting hardest on voters already juggling long drives, shaky transit and tight schedules. Expanded early voting and mail ballots are the only dependable insurance against a storm swinging a Senate majority. Scrambling to relocate polling sites mid-flood is no substitute for giving every voter days, not hours, to cast a ballot.
