Version 7.18.3
Scrapping methane safeguards gives drillers a free pass while households see little real relief at the pump. Gas that leaks, vents or burns off is pure waste, and neighbors living near aging wells end up paying for it in safety risks. Savings that never reach consumers aren't savings — just profit shifted to the companies polluting and contributing to a warming planet.
Piling costly monitoring mandates on every wellhead squeezed the small operators keeping American energy flowing, all over a gas whose warming effect is swamped by water vapor and carbon dioxide. Cheaper production means more barrels, stronger paychecks in oil country and less reliance on foreign crude. Rules that cost billions and deliver no measurable climate benefit deserve to be set aside into the scrap heap.
