Kinzinger says he believes Justice Department 'will do the right thing' and charge Trump over Jan. 6

Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said on Sunday that he hopes the US Dept. of Justice (DOJ) “will do the right thing” and bring criminal charges against Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the United States Capitol.
Kinzinger served as one of two GOP members on the House select committee investigating January 6th. The panel finished its work last month and presented its case to the DOJ, advising it to pursue charges against Trump on multiple criminal statutes.
The House select committee investigating the Capitol riots uncovered enough evidence to charge and convict former President Trump with incitement of an insurrection. The DOJ should do the right thing and hold him accountable for the violence he caused.
The House select committee investigation of Jan. 6th is nothing but a kangaroo court and a vanity project that insults Americans’ intelligence and makes a mockery of democracy. Former President Trump has committed no crimes and attempts to prove otherwise are a waste of congress' time and taxpayer money.
