Canada will not proceed with a planned expansion of medical assistance in dying (MAID) to people whose sole underlying condition is mental illness, Justice Minister Sean Fraser said Wednesday. A temporary exclusion had been set to expire in March 2027; legislation promised for this fall would make it indefinite.
