The U.S. blockade of Cuba is economic warfare against a nation that has never threatened its neighbors. While Trump wants a political trophy before midterms, Díaz-Canel and his peers just want to run out the clock, hoping a friendlier administration comes along. Any deal reached will be politics from above with zero democratic input, and history shows Cuba reverses economic reforms the moment pressure eases. Neither side is actually interested in helping ordinary Cubans; one wants a headline, and the other wants to survive.
