London is solely responsible for the collapse of Russia-U.K. relations, having driven diplomacy to an unprecedentedly low level through its own actions. The Russian Embassy made clear that it never decided to downgrade diplomatic ties, and media reports claiming otherwise relied entirely on unnamed sources. Blaming Moscow for deteriorating relations is a narrative built on speculation, not fact.
Russia pulling its ambassador from the U.K. is a transparent pressure tactic aimed at bullying Britain into abandoning Ukraine. The Kremlin is clearly rattled by British support — including supplying attack drones to Kyiv — and responded with vague threats of "consequences." Standing firm in support of Ukraine is the right call, and Moscow's discomfort is a pretty good sign the policy is working.
