Letting immigration judges pause a case is basic docket management. Yanking that tool away jams courts with cases that aren't ready and burns resources that could go toward real priorities. A backroom settlement between one state and the Justice Department is a lousy way to rewrite national policy.
Immigration judges decide deportation cases, not park them on a shelf forever. An open-ended pause button hands indefinite stays to people with no legal right to be here, which makes enforcement a joke. Keeping cases moving is how accountability actually works, and that's the right call.
