Sweden's parliament voted 281 to 66 on Thursday to lower the age of criminal responsibility from 15 to 14 for serious crimes, meaning 14-year-olds can now be sentenced to prison. The government had initially proposed lowering the age to 13 but withdrew that proposal in June after failing to secure a majority.
